The range and diversity of Audra's work as an artist is unmatched. Audra has received six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award. As the winner of a record-breaking 6 Tony Awards (two Grammy Awards) and an Emmy Award, McDonald was included in the Time Magazine's list of 100 influential people in the year 2015. She also received President Barack Obama's National Medal of Arts for her work. A soprano with unmatched beauty, and an ability to tell the truth in a dramatic way, her roles in Broadway or in the opera have the same aplomb as the roles in movies as well as on TV. Alongside performing on stage, she has earned a name for herself in a professional career that is a major recording and concert career. She frequently performs in the most prestigious performances. McDonald was born in Fresno California to a music family, began the classical vocal training she received in New York's Juilliard School. After graduating, she received her very first Tony Award as Best Performance of a Featured Artist musical at the Lincoln Center Theater for Carousel (1994). Over the next four years she was awarded two additional Tony Awards for the category of a featured actress. She performed in Broadway premier productions of Terrence McNally's musical Ragtime and Terrence McNally's play Master Class in 1996. McDonald's first role as a dramatic actor on television was with the Peabody Award-winning CBS series Having Our Say The Delany Sistersthe First 100 Years. McDonald's performance in the HBO film Lady Day At Emerson Bar Restaurant earned the actress a fourth Emmy nomination in 2016. The Bite was a six episodes pandemic-themed drama created by Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. McDonald has a brief appearance in The Good Wife, a CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick between 2009 and 2018 reprised the roles (now known as Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight as a Paramount+ season regular. McDonald received nominations for Three Critics Choice Award awards. She is also a character on HBO's The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
