As the winner of a record-breaking 6 Tony Awards (two Grammy Awards) and an Emmy Award, McDonald was included in the Time Magazine's list of 100 influential people in the year 2015. The Bite was a six episodes pandemic-themed drama created by Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. McDonald has a brief appearance in The Good Wife, a CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick between 2009 and 2018 reprised the roles (now known as Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight as a Paramount+ season regular. McDonald received nominations for Three Critics Choice Award awards. She is also a character on HBO's The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
